ASHI SKC
Tony Aidoo, Chief Instructor & founder of Ashi SKC, works as a senior biomedical scientist in the haematology department of the Royal London Hospital situated in Whitechapel. A year after attaining his Sandan he went on an instructors qualification programme & after successfully qualifying decided to teach, as this was what he had wanted to do all along. Prior to attaining his full instructors certificate of licence he was an assistant to his club instructor, Sensei Rod Butler at the Wanstead dojo, a place where he still trains at.
One of the hospital conference rooms was his first setting for training sessions, one where all the tables & chairs had to be moved prior to classes!! This setting was the dojo for almost a year and a half until a new school doubling up as a sports & leisure opened nearby. The Mulberry School for Girls/Sports & Leisure Centre created the opportunity for Ashi SKC to move to a new venue designed for training in.
The club name also changed from the Royal London Hospital SKC to Ashi SKC. Ashi SKC is currently a relatively small club that hopes to be a bigger club in the future. |
